This painting and my new series is built upon the concept of spirit animals and the deep interconnectedness of all beings.

Last year I read many books from Michael Harner, an anthropologist researching shamanic knowledge and shamanic drum journeys. If I read about something I am enthusiastic about, I need to try it directly. So I looked for shamanic drumming on youtube, shut all the lights and made a shamanic journey at home. It was mindblowing, such a discovery of unknown worlds, finding helping hands, having deeply healing experiences and loads of inspiration for my art. This painting is also built upon these experiences. The magpie appears here as both a companion and a messenger, symbolizing curiosity, intelligence, and the bridge between the human and animal realms. The presence of the magpie further emphasizes the message of unity, reminding us of the importance of coexistence and the beauty that arises when we embrace the harmony between humans and the natural world.
