“We should consider ourselves as citizens of the world, not of a nation.”
When we came to Germany, Joshua remembered one of his favorite poets. It was Heinrich Heine and his “Wintermärchen”. Although, from the calendar it was still summer, it rained a lot and was cold. But after he was living all his childhood and youth in Germany, Joshua is used to this. What really brought back the verses of Heine to his mind and the pain to his heart, was what we read on the placates along the road. To say it simple: Coming to a country in the time of election is always a challenge for us.
What we need is a world nation. We do not need any war, any segregation and any hatred. The problems of our times are global problems and we need global answers.
Still on the placates in Germany we saw nationalistic propaganda and hatred campaign against foreign cultures. We were shocked. Why does society making a step back, specially in a time of global crises?
We started to talk with German people to understand the situation and the motivations. From our impression the main reason for a politic of borders is fear.
German society is getting older and older. The social system is collapsing. There are too many who need and too less who can give. The people are afraid that they will not get their retirements when they have now to share with even more people. Interesting, it seems the root of nationalism is actually egoism.
We also many times we heard that it is important to defend the values of German society. What exactly this values are and how to justify the defense of them with the happenings in Syria, North Korea and Iraq nobody could explain us clearly.
But what is about the dream of a peaceful world nation? Would it not be time for it? Why not give up all the borders and create planet earth? Why is no politician talking about it?
Normally more people should mean more possibilities. And like an old folk wisdom says: Shared misery is half misery and shared happiness is double happiness.
The world belongs to everybody! Everybody should have the right to go everywhere. Why not? If you want to forbid, you should ask, who has the right to forbid and based on what? Germany does not belong to Angela Merkel, the US not to Donald Trump and Hungary not to Victor Orban.
The people who has to escape from their countries has to escape because of a war that western countries started and right now still continue. An illegal war that is against human and international rights.
Unfortunately it seemed that people need identification. But why we have to identify ourselves over borders and not over freedom. Why we cannot identify ourselves as citizens of planet earth? Why we need segregation? Why we need war?
We asked ourselves this question, even though we had a wonderful time in Germany:
We discovered beautiful villages,
met wonderful people,
visited the national park Hainich,
and celebrate the birthday of Joshua’s Grandma, where four generations came together.
We made hikes in the area where Joshua grew up,
played with Joshua’s nieces,
and realize one more time, that real richness has nothing to do with money.
This is the new episode of our travel diary. Maybe you are wondering that we changed the title “Baby without border”. Well, this has many reasons.
The first three episodes we wrote exclusive for Liliputi. We realized by the process of publishing the third episode “LoveRevolution at the Balaton” that lived freedom and true love are not fitting to the values of Liliputi. We stopped our cooperation but the “Baby without border” project was too important for us, so we adopted the series.
By writing to more episodes we realize that is was actually about so much more then only a baby without border, that we decided to change the title. Travel beyond – live your dream, discover yourself and follow the flow of the universe.
