Why is bamboo so special?

Unlike a tree, bamboo does not have to be felled and does not die during harvesting.

On the contrary, the cutting during harvest makes bamboo grow even more productively, up to 60 cm per day. That is 10 times faster than any tree, with the same raw material yield.

The second advantage is that bamboo absorbs 10 to 12 times as much CO2 as a tree.

In addition, when a tree is felled, 25% of the dead tree remains because the stump and root are not used. This part of the tree rots and even releases CO2 into the atmosphere.

Bamboo, on the other hand, continues to grow unhindered and even more after harvesting, absorbing CO² instead of releasing it into the atmosphere.

In addition, the roots of bamboo form an underground network over the years from which new grasses continually sprout.

Bamboo is therefore a self-renewing resource. In addition, this root network protects the soil from erosion.

Bamboo is very undemanding: it thrives on depleted soils, requires little water and does not require any fertilizers or pesticides. Bamboo plantations return nutrients to the soil and thus create fertile soils.
