Vanlife sunset

“If something does not work out, something better will come”,

this phrase of an old friend of mine still echos in my head. It is a beautiful thought, the powerful essence of positive thinking. Life is beautiful and it is up to you how to take the things that are coming. Nothing is really important, life is nothing but a dream to dream for a while, and it takes the same effort to make yourself miserable or happy. Really, happiness is not something that happens to you, but it is your attitude to life.

And still, today Zoé is fed up with our situation. The van life is not anymore beautiful, she says, it is time for a change.

We are now for more than 5 months on the road and we have to realize that our beloved camper van is too little for our growing family and our journey around the world. So we started to look for a new home, and it seems like we already have been lucky. Not even two weeks ago, Zoé found on her birthday a promising car. Soon we will fly to Hungary to check it. Then we will tell you more.

Right now we start to organize this expedition. We booked the flights, found a place to park our camper safe for the time we are in Hungary and booked a pension where our three dogs can stay.

We will come back to Spain on the 20th of December and still we did not find any nice place to rent for Christmas. Actually we found a cozy wooden cabin on airbnb, but today the host canceled the already accepted booking. So again we are on the road. And here we come back to Zoé’s frustration: The van life is not beautiful anymore!

Why? The sun is shining, we stand directly at the beach and all together it seems more like a nice spring day in middle Europe. Still, the van is too little. Half of the day we spend with packing. It seems our projects running through our hands like wet sand. We want to publish our illustrated kid book “Lola and the Ice Cream Conspiracy”, I want to work on my new album “Dead man” and Zoé wants to paint. You see, same old story, You want, you want, you want and suddenly happiness is depending on the space of your car, on the amount of hours you need to pack, to wash the cotton diapers and to make the car ready. What is with all the wisdom? I thought time does not exist, only clocks. I thought it is up to you, if you are happy or not, whatever you do and I thought if something does not work out, something better will happen.

We will see, what is about that,
hugs and kisses,
Joshua
