Baby without border 4 – Unexpected turn (Baba határok nélkül 4 – Váratlan fordulat)

(This article is also existing in Hungarian. A cikk magyar változatát itt találhatod: Baba határok nélkül 4 – Váratlan fordulat )

One thing we learned is: If you love life, life loves you. So we start every day without any expectations, open to be surprised by every single moment and listen to the signs, that life gives us.

Last week it was obvious: we had to leave our beach hideout on the Balaton. For saying goodbye, we made a boat trip to Tihany.

There we were eating ice cream, enjoyed the view over the Balaton and discovered the maybe best restaurant in Hungary: the Yard of old times. If you want to read more about this day, check our article: Travel to old times.

The next day everything was prepared for leaving, when life made an unexpected turn. We came back from a walk to the magical forest next to us, when our phone was lighting: a message of an old friend has arrived. It was Balázs, also known as Seamus Connelly, the drummer of Paddy and the Rats. Finally the impossible seemed again possible. Since March this year Joshua wanted to record his new album, “Love is our aeroplane”, but again and again it was not working. Now that we look back it seems life was just waiting for the right moment for us. Spontanious, we drove to Budapest and met with Balázs in the practicing room of Paddy and the Rats. Joshua was playing with him a few songs and we spent a beautiful evening together. If you want to read more, here is the link: An evening with Seamus Connelly.

Although Balázs in the end could not take the drum parts of the recording, he still helped us a lot. Joshua was thinking a lot this evening, and came to the conclusion that this time he does not want to depend on other people for recording this album. The next morning we drove to the Supersize studio, where Balázs before was working together with the American producer, Cameron Webb on the new album of Paddy and the Rats. The Supersize studio is a place where music truly is at home. It is an old castle in a little forest and in the nights the cicadas are singing back the songs of the plenty great musicians that were recording here. And the Supersize crew is simply amazing. We felt from the beginning on at home and after a short chat with the owner, Attila, the plan was made. We were camping for the night in the yard under a huge acacia tree.

The next day Joshua recorded with nothing else than his guitar in one afternoon seven tracks in a live studio session.

This day was simply magical. The album became awesome, and we even made new friends. On the same day Barna Pély, and his sound engineer, Dexter were recording the new album of Barna, Improvized destiny.

They were really nice and open, we spent a great evening together and could feel a little bit part of this recording, too. If you want to read more about this day and listen to one song from the album of Joshua, click here: the one and only paradise.

In these past ten days, we also realized one more time that you should never say never. We already said goodbye and were thinking that we saw the last sunset of the Balaton for this summer. But after the recording, we decided that we would like to come back to our beach hideout, that we can arrange a few things before we finally leave the country.

When we were the first time writing about the beauty of traveling slow, we by ourselves did not expect that it will take that long to leave Hungary. But being open to the surprises of life also means that you might walk different ways than planned. And these ways are full of wonders.
