The bee box is finaly ready, but it was quite a long way.
This is wednesday morning. The weather is nice and the boards are ready to become the new home of our bees. What you do not see is Tuesday. Well, the weather was nice, too. Unfortunatly our jigsaw did not work at all, Zoé wanted to cut off her hand, we spent the late evening in a construction market far away from our place and we were thinking we will never keep bees…
But with the help of our friend in the local carpenteria and a little bit of work it already looks like a bee box.
We did not know that we needed a super a little drill head for making the wax stripes. After another round to a construction market also the inside of the box is ready.
You can see the smal wax stripes. Here our bees will start to build their hive. On the picture the box is standing on the roof and with the back to the front. There you can see the backdoor and behind the honey room. Right now it is empty, but we hope thiswill change. The honey room is what we like the most on our box. It allows us not to take the winter honey of our bees but only the extra production.
The only thing that is missing now are the bees. We need a natural swarm. All the bee keeper in the area only want to sell us plates. So now we are on the hunt for our bees. If you see them, please let us know.
If you like the project follow us and have a look in the section “offgrid home”. Soon there you can find more.
Love and kisses
Zoé and Joshua
